These are some examples of how you will help the team:

As a (Senior) Engineer – Interconnection Application, you will play a crucial role in the design and analysis of power systems for load and generation interconnection requests. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing preliminary designs for LV, MV, and HV components in compliance with applicable US ISO/RTO standards and guidelines.

  • Creating preliminary Single-Line Diagrams.

  • Building, modifying, and tuning PSS/E models based on preliminary design parameters for load and generation interconnection requests.

  • Conducting various power systems simulations, including dynamic transient analyses, to ensure compliance with regional and national technical requirements.

  • Preparing generation and load interconnection applications, including the completion of technical forms and documents as required by regional regulations.

  • Actively participating in industry-renowned working groups and conferences to establish yourself and our team as experts in power systems complex analytics and regional requirements.

  • Staying current with the latest analytical and computing techniques to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of computer simulations.

  • Producing high-quality technical documents, reports, and presentations for both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Developing or modifying Python scripts to optimize PSS/E simulations.

  • Keeping abreast of the latest trends and industry standards related to PSS/E modeling of complex power systems, including both AC and DC technologies.

  • Contributing to the team's research and innovation activities, including the development of new techniques and analytical tools to improve efficiency and capabilities.

 

What you will need to succeed in your role:

  • Minimum of a master's degree in electrical power system engineering.

  • Minimum of 1 year of full-time working experience in US Utility, ISO/RTO, and Power Systems Consulting environments.

  • Minimum of 1 year of full-time experience in developing preliminary designs for load and generation interconnection requests within at least one of the US electricity markets.

  • Minimum of 1 year of full-time experience in building, modifying, and tuning PSS/E models and performing various steady state and dynamic simulations for load and generation interconnection within at least one of the US electricity markets.

  • Proficiency in Python programming.

  • In-depth understanding of the dynamics and controls of inverter-based resources and their local and plant-level controllers.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug and background screening.

What is Preferred?

 

  • Demonstrable hands-on experience with one or more power system analysis software packages, including PSCAD, TSAT, TARA, ASPEN, and PSLF, in addition to PSS/E.

  • Knowledge of North American ISO/RTO grid interconnection and corresponding planning practices, system impact studies, and NERC standards such as TPL/MOD/CIP.

  • In-depth understanding of the fundamentals of other electric power system components, including HVDC and FACTs devices.
