Zero-Emission Grid has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Grid Interconnection Engineer. The Senior Engineer must demonstrate vision and drive and be passionate about contributing to the growth of ZEG’s impact toward decarbonizing the grid. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter with a strong desire and experience in building and leading technical teams.
These are some examples of how you will help the team:

Lead and mentor electrical engineers in performing power system steady state, short circuit, and dynamic & transient stability analyses.

Perform and review fault ride-through studies, dynamic model quality tests, and model benchmarking analysis using different power system modeling software tools.

Preparing and reviewing generation and load interconnection applications.

Perform and review electrical power system steady state, short circuit, dynamic, and transient stability analyses for renewable generation interconnection including Wind (Onshore, Offshore), Solar, Storage, and hybrid projects.

Produce and/or review technical reports and presentations for both internal and external stakeholders.

Develop or modify automation scripts to enhance the efficiency, speed, and accuracy of technical simulations

Actively attend industry stakeholder meetings

stay up to date with assigned market changes in terms of regional, NERC, and FERC planning procedures, policy changes, and developments.

Contribute to the team’s research and innovation activities in terms of the development of new techniques and/or analytical tools to further the team’s performance in terms of efficiency and/or capability improvements.

Cultivate new customer relationships, assist in preparing responses to Requests for Proposals (RFP), and provide Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) for new tenders/bids/opportunities.
What you will need to succeed in your role:

Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering - Preferably graduate-level degree with an emphasis on Electric Power Systems

In-depth understanding of the fundamentals of electric power systems and renewable energy

Direct work experience in transmission planning and development, generation, or load interconnection-related analyses
-
Minimum 2 + years of working experience in Utility, ISO/RTO, and Consulting environments.

Minimum 3 + years of hands-on experience with PSS/E
-
Knowledge of North American ISO/RTO grid interconnection and corresponding planning practices, system impact studies, NERC standards such as TPL/MOD/CIP

Working knowledge of automation scripts such as Python

Strong organizational, interpersonal, relationship-building, and analytical skills

Ability to work in a dynamic team environment.

Excellent oral and written communications skills in English

Preferably demonstrable hands-on experience with TSAT, TARA, ASPEN, PSLF, or PSCAD tools
